Bristol and District

Volunteers - we need you!

Are you passionate about local pubs, beer or cider? So are we!

We’re looking for volunteers to join our many campaigning groups. You can start anytime or come along to a meeting or social to learn more. We offer shadowing, guidance and practical tools.

We need volunteers for a variety of activities, from one-off tasks to shared roles. Some areas already have leads, while others need support as we plan ahead. Could you contribute or lead in any of the areas mentioned below?

You may want to join our branch committee, but as long as you keep in regular contact it is not a requirement.

If no specific role attracts you, you can still help shape our plans as a member ‘without portfolio’ - a good starting point.

Social Secretary

Help us organise social events, including pub walks and outings, building our knowledge of local pubs and breweries and supporting our Good Beer Guide selections - in a great social atmosphere.

Festival Manager

Our beer and cider festivals (which we hope to resurrect soon) celebrate great beer and cider, raise funds for branch activities, and help welcome new members and volunteers. Could you help bring it all together, working with the wider festival team?

Pubs Officer

Bring your passion for pubs to our Pubs Group to help protest local pubs from closure, damaging change or loss of heritage.

Social Media Coordinator

Could you be one of our influencers? Help promote branch activity and interests - especially to the under 30s - through our social media channels and dedicated events.

Public Transport Officer

Help research and champion accessible travel by public transport to pubs, beer festivals and other events.

Brewery Liaison Officers

CAMRA keeps in touch with local breweries through our brewery liaison officers, or BLOs. These BLOs play a key role in creating the content of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide (GBG).

The Good Beer Guide is not just about pubs. It also contains details of every brewery and its core beers. In the Bristol & District branch area we have well over 30.

BLOs liaise with these breweries and provide updates on what they are producing, and these feed into the substantial breweries section at the back of the GBG. They’re also often write articles for the brewery news section of Pints West.

The role of brewery liaison officer always has a high satisfaction rating in member surveys, and vacancies do arise from time to time.

Currently we have vacancies for these breweries:
Badgworth Brewhouse
Cheddar Ales
Guerrilla Brew (the new brewery starting up at the George & Dragon in Redfield)
Left Handed Giant

If any of these roles sound like a good fit, or if you'd simply like to find out more, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
