This Grade II listed former coaching inn reopened in November 2022 after an impressive internal refurbishment, giving it a more comfortable feel. Don't be fooled by the somewhat tired exterior! There is a recessed games area and a very large patio and garden area to the rear. The owner/landlord is a real ale enthusiast and offers interesting guest beers of varying styles. The regular bitter and two independent guest beers, one of which in winter is often a stout, porter or mild, are now served on gravity from a cool room behind the bar at very attractive prices. Look for the small chalk board behind the bar to see today's selection. A local quality keg beer is also now served as is Czech Budvar. Filled rolls available most times but you are welcome to bring in a takeaway. Dogs on leads welcome and children until 9pm. Free car parks are 200 yards away. May sometimes open beyond stated times. Pool and cribbage available.
