BAD Ladies
Bristol And District Ladies
who love beer (and cider)

If you are a lady who loves beer then you might be interested in joining in with our activities. We are a group of CAMRA women who enjoy getting together for a few hours once every couple of months through the year to enjoy real ale and real cider. We are interested in organising beer and cider tasting, beer brewing and pub trips. We agreed that our pub trips would include places that served real cider as well as real ale, and that we wouldn't visit more than 3 pubs over an afternoon.
So, if you are one of the many female members in Bristol and District (BAD) CAMRA, enjoy beer (or cider) and great company, and like the look of our programme then please join us. Or if you're not currently a CAMRA member but would like to come and find out more, we'd love to see you.
Our events take place on Saturday afternoons, normally from 2pm to 6pm unless otherwise stated. No need to book unless it's a special event. Just turn up.
If you have any queries about BAD Ladies, or if you need to know more, find us on Instagram (@camra_bad_ladies) or email us: BAD Ladies

Programme of events
23 May - Chipping Sodbury cheers
Our first adventure a little further afield will be reachable via regular Y1 and Y2 buses from central Bristol to Yate shopping centre (~40 minutes). From there it’s a 15-20 minute walk (or another short bus ride) to our first destination. The George Hotel (63 Broad St, Chipping Sodbury, Bristol BS37 6AD), a former coach house from circa 1439, offers local real ales and CAMRA discounts. We’ll then make our way to cosy and historic 15th century pub, the Grapes (9 Rounceval Street, Chipping Sodbury, BS37 6AS), where an interesting range of guest ales can be sampled. We’ll end at the Horseshoe (2 High Street, Chipping Sodbury, BS37 6AH) Bristol & District CAMRA Pub of the Year 2024 and runner-up 2026, which offers a great selection of West Country beers. Join our WhatsApp group to stay connected and to travel with other BAD Ladies on the day.
18 July - Weston-super-Mare wander
Venturing out of Bristol to visit the seaside, we’ll take the train from Temple Meads to Weston-super-Mare; there are plenty of train services and some buses too - travel updates will be shared closer to the date. Join our WhatsApp group to stay connected with other BAD Ladies. We’ll aim for the High Street and head to the popular micropub, the Black Cat (135 High Street, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1HN), Bristol & District CAMRA's runner-up for Cider Pub of the Year 2025 and 2026. Next, we’ll visit lively Fat Tap, Fat Head Brewery's new taproom (132 High Street, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1HP), before calling in to the Brit Bar (118 High Street, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1HP). If we’re still up for more, we may also visit Fork N' Ale Taproom & Kitchen (18 Walliscote Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1UG) on our route back to the train station.
29 August - East Bristol Brewery Trail - the second round
Join our WhatsApp group or email list for updates on BAD Ladies’ plans for tackling the second East Bristol Brewery Trail of 2026 this bank holiday weekend.
26 September - Hotwells hops
We’ll meet at the Merchants Arms (5 Merchants Road, Hotwells, Bristol, BS8 4PZ,) a traditional free pub offering a range of regional beers. Next we’ll visit the Pump House (Merchants Road, Hotwells, Bristol, BS8 4PZ), an impressive Grade II listed building that once powered Bristol Harbour’s bridges and locks. Now a Bristol Beer Factory pub with a large terrace where we can (potentially) enjoy some sun. Our last stop will be the Nova Scotia (1 Nova Scotia Place, Hotwells, Bristol, BS1 6XJ), hopefully here we can also enjoy some drinks on the waterfront and soak up some sunshine.
28 November - Kingsdown quaffing
Kicking off at the top of the hill with Wickwar pub, the Cotham Porter Stores (15 Cotham Road South, Kingsdown, Bristol, BS6 5TZ), we’ll then make our way down to the Hillgrove Porter Stores (53 Hillgrove Street North, Kingsdown, Bristol, BS2 8LT), which serves a wide range of ales from South West breweries. Our last stop will be the Hare On The Hill (41 Thomas Street North, Kingsdown, Bristol, BS2 8LX) where we can reflect on a fun-filled year of BAD Ladies adventures!
